Advanced riding refers to a higher level of riding skill and awareness that goes beyond the basic requirements needed to pass a standard bike test. It focuses on developing precision, safety, anticipation, and control under all riding conditions. The goal of advanced riding is not showmanship, but rather the consistent application of safe, smooth, and systematic riding techniques that reduce risk and enhance road safety.

Advanced riding represents the highest standard of roadcraft, combining skill, awareness, and responsibility. It is about riding smarter, making informed decisions that prioritise safety, efficiency, and respect for other road users. By understanding what advanced riding truly is—and what it is not—riders can cultivate habits that make roads safer for everyone.
