Unlock Your Creativity: A Taster Workshop

When was the last time you gave yourself permission to notice more - or to follow an idea simply because it intrigued you? How do writers and journalists spot telling details, uncover stories and develop creative habits?

Unlock Your Creativity is a welcoming two-hour workshop for anyone who wants to reconnect with their imagination, see the world with fresh eyes and discover new possibilities through writing. Using simple, engaging prompts inspired by journalism, storytelling and everyday life, we'll explore memories, observations and experiences in a relaxed and supportive environment in the gorgeous Only Make Believe bookshop in Merton Abbey Mills.

Expect conversation, curiosity and a notebook full of ideas at the end. No previous writing experience is needed: the workshop is equally suitable for complete beginners and experienced writers looking for a creative boost.

The workshop is led by Dr Glenda Cooper, associate professor at City St George’s, University of London.  I'm an award-winning fiction writer (Poetic Republic, Writers' Bureau, longlisted for the Lucy Cavendish Fiction Prize) and playwright (my work has been performed at Theatre 503, The Pleasance Theatre, Islington, Octagon Theatre, Bolton, Rose Theatre Studio, Irlam Fringe). I've also worked as a staff correspondent and editor for BBC Radio 4, The Washington Post, The Independent, Telegraph and Sunday Times. You might have also caught my shows at the Wandsworth Fringe and the UK River Festival and Summit at Morden Hall Park.
