October Community Build Day: Family Day
We're building our first permanent community garden (temporarily called the #TriangleSite) in Kings Cross and we want you to get involved! With all our garden projects, like the Paper Garden most recently, we always involve the community in the build and this site will be no different. Join us for a Community Build day at the Triangle Site focused on actually building elements of our new site. This month's session will be focused on earth building with cob!
Our site uses a new technique of earth building called Cobbauge, a combination of French and English traditions of cob building that can meet modern building regulations and thermal efficiency standards with a reduced carbon footprint. This site will be London's first Cobbauge wall and you can help us build it!
What to expect:
This is a particularly family friendly edition of our build days - perfect for the half term, so bring the whole family! Activities are suitable for children over the age of 4 as long as accompanied by an adult. Please book the correct number of tickets for both adults and children. There are limited places available, if you can no longer make it, please let the team know and we can open up your place to our waitlist.
Details:
This is an all day session running from 11 - 3 p.m. with a break for lunch. We will provide all the PPE you’ll need as well as tea and light refreshments. We will prepare a vegetarian lunch which will be PWYC, but you are welcome to bring your own.
- Please wear clothes and shoes appropriate for the weather and that you don’t mind getting dirty! All people on site must wear closed toe shoes and we will have work boots on site so please wear socks. If you have your own site boots and preferred PPE, please bring them.
- Bring a water bottle and/or travel mug with you, if you have one.
Accessibility
There are pathways throughout the site that allow access, and a ramp from the entrance to the work area but this is an active construction site so there are uneven surfaces throughout. We do have a temporary accessible toilet facility on site. Please speak to the team if you have specific access needs.
