Welcome to the New Story Garden: Summer Community Launch

The New Story Garden is opening to the public this summer and we want to open the gates with a big summer party.

For the past few years, Global Generation has been transforming a brownfield site into a new community garden space that can be enjoyed for generations to come. The Story Garden was made by thousands of hands, involving school children, young people, residents, volunteers, businesses and employees. Now that it is time to open our permanent garden space on York Street, we want to celebrate the incredible things we have learned together while completing the build.

Please join us for an amazing day Saturday 18 July, 11 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. to see our new buildings, watch performances, take part in activities, enjoy refreshments and tour the new space. 

What to expect:

• Creative activities for the whole family
• Tour of the site and view of our new buildings and facilities
• Delicious vegetarian refreshments and drinks
• Brass on the Grass! A free family-friendly workshop with brass quintet, Connaught Brass at 1 p.m. This event is generously supported by the Kings Place Community Programme.

Tickets

There is no cost to attend this event, but we would love to plan for the right number of attendees, so please book a ticket for each guest in attendance and let us know any dietary restrictions for your group. Donations to support our continued programming are welcome and will go towards our free educational and community events and workshops year round.

Each year we reach 5000 young people through our programmes and another 5000 benefit from accessing our events and spaces.

About the Space and Accessibility

The New Story Garden is an active community garden and growing space with accessible paths throughout. While we maintain the paths so that mobility devices can access the space, there may be uneven and slippery surfaces throughout, so please take care. There is an accessible toilet located within the garden. The event will take place outdoors with some cover provided in case of poor weather.  Please speak to the team if you have specific accessibility needs.

About Global Generation:

Global Generation is an environmental education charity with garden sites located throughout London. We offer activities such as urban food growing, supporting bees, carpentry, cooking, storytelling, creative writing, performance and more. We aim to create the conditions for people to come together, connect with themselves, others and their local area and to practically and creatively contribute to ecological and social change.
