Mark Fairnington - Sottobosco: Tales of the Undergrowth

We are delighted to invite you to the grand reopening of our original venue in the heart of North Shields Cultural and Creative Quarter, marking a long-awaited return. To celebrate this momentous occasion, we proudly present Sottobosco: Tales of the Undergrowth, a captivating exhibition by Mark Fairnington.

Globe first opened its doors in North Shields in 1995 before relocating to Newcastle in 2011. Over the past 29 years, it has operated in more than seven venues. In 2024, leading up to its 30th anniversary, Globe Gallery is thrilled to return to its original premises at 97 Howard Street.

This return is made possible by the generous investment from the North of Tyne Combined Authority, which funded the renovation. Globe’s mission to promote and support contemporary art in the region continues with a diverse range of exhibitions and programs designed to engage and inspire the community.
