Gloss: Homecoming

It's the best time of the year. The temperature is chilling out, the sun is backing off (but not too far yet), the foliage is on point. That's right baby it's fall, and that means it's a Homecoming theme!

Naughty nerds! Taut teachers! Shiny sportsmen! Coruscating cheerleaders! Glistening goths! Bedazzling bandkids! Regular Latex Kinkster! All of your favorite highschool archetypes will be there.

There's going to be a vote for Homecoming Court! Everyone will be encouraged to vote for their favorite looks and then we will honor the winner(s) with a prize beyond their wildest dreams!

Relevant Info

As always, if you aren't yet vetted and don't have a sponsor, you can attend our monthly Cocktail Hours so the founders and existing members can get a chance to meet you (be sure to submit an Intake Form as well if you want to be considered for membership)! If you don't live in the greater NYC area, make sure to include times you'd be available for a video vetting call.

Want to attend but price is an issue? We have discounted tickets for trans/BIPOC/SWer friends, and usually have spaces open for volunteers, who attend for free! Submit a volunteer form (EVEN IF YOU'VE VOLUNTEERED IN THE PAST) and we'll get back to you. If you are asked to volunteer, we will of course refund any ticket you may have purchased for the event.

Check your order confirmation and reminder emails for the venue address!

To understand more of our outlook and review our party's rules (which you will be expected to know and follow), please take a look at the Gloss Charter.

Things You Need to Know

Doors open at 10pm and close at 1am. If you're late, you will not be let in! This is to ensure safety and smooth running of the event (and so no volunteer is doomed to sit downstairs until the latest and coldest of hours).

  1. Rubber is not optional! At least one major piece of your outfit must be latex. Vinyl and PVC are not acceptable alternatives. Also, your partner wearing latex does not count as you wearing latex. If you do not have rubber to wear, you will be asked to leave without a refund.
  2. All attendees must be vaccinated! We also strongly recommend getting the latest booster.
  3. If you're sick, stay home and let us know in advance and we will refund your ticket. The whole point is we plan to keep doing more of these, so don't think this is your one chance! Help us keep each other safe.
  4. Affirmative, enthusiastic consent is key. Make no assumptions.
  5. We will have a photo-booth and a professional photographer (@carlystarphoto) from 11-12 (so show up early if you want to capture your look with a pro). We will also provide bracelets to indicate if you want your photo taken or not for that period.
  6. No personal pictures allowed, so put your phone away! Taking pictures of Gloss attendees outside of the above options is grounds to be removed and permanently barred from all future events.
  7. This event is invite-only. Reach out to admin@glossgroup.nyc if you have a +1 we didn't invite and you aren't certain of their vetting status. Again, we MUST KNOW THE NAMES OF ALL ATTENDEES to ensure a save environment. People who aren't known to the group ahead of time will not be admitted, regardless if they have a ticket.
  8. BYOB! We will have some refreshments but more drinks and snacks are always welcome. A full-size refrigerator will be available to keep things cold.
  9. No smoking/vaping allowed in the venue.
  10. Control yourself. This is a play party, so it's not the time to indulge to excess. No open drug use. Attendees who are overly intoxicated will be kindly asked to leave for the safety of everyone.
  11. Respect the space. The venue belongs to our good friends, and we really would like to be welcome to return. Pick up after yourself, don't break things (and let us know if you do so we can fix it), be Good Rubber Citizens.
  12. Drink Water! For a variety of reasons, but especially so for a party where you have to wear latex.
  13. There are multiple tiers of tickets, including a certain allotment of discounted tickets for people who need them. If you're able to pay more and want to support the event, we encourage you to pick up one of the higher tiers (with our deepest thanks)!
  14. If you are not an approved member but somehow purchased a ticket, you will not be admitted or refunded.
  15. While we strive to create the safest spaces possible, there is no such thing as zero risk. By attending a Gloss event you agree to not hold the organization, its hosts, or the venue liable for anything that may occur while on premises. This includes but is not limited to any physical or emotional harm that may occur.

FAQS

Can I change at the venue?

Yes! You can change in the coat room (the red room on your right as you enter) or the bathrooms if you'd be more comfortable.

I don't have latex, but I have shiny clothes--is that acceptable?

Sorry, but no. While we will have wet look events in the future, this event is latex required. Anyone not in rubber will be asked to leave without a refund. If you don't know the difference between latex and vinyl/pvc/spandex/neoprene, ask us in advance for clarity.

I don't live in NYC, how do I get vetted if I don't know anyone?

While ideally we'd like to meet you in person, for out-of-towners we are willing to try short video interviews. Make sure you've submitted your vetting application with times you can do a call.
