Making Comics with Thomas Brown
Multiple dates and times
The Folk of Gloucester, GL1 2PG
Description
People have told stories using pictures for longer than we’ve been writing them down. We
still do, and comics, or sequential art, is a medium that lends itself to every kind of story.
This is a six month course, during which industry professional Thomas Brown will lead you
through the process of Drawing Comics, covering the story, layout, dialogue, character
design, pacing, and more.
Thomas has years of experience with graphic novels and standalone comics across
genres including fantasy and gothic, history, childrens’ stories, superheroes etc.
A wide range of materials will be used, including script samples from Thomas’s contacts in
the industry, such as New York Times bestseller Thomas Sniegoski
This course is for anyone with interest in creating comics. You don’t need any particular
drawing or writing ability. Come with what you know, and learn in a supportive setting.
Pencils and paper will be provided. If you’re already drawing, please do bring what you
may already like to use, or want to start using - and if you work digitally rather than in
traditional media, please bring your tablet or other drawing tools.
All participants will have the opportunity to create a finished comic - these will be gathered
into a class anthology which will be printed so that you can see your work as part of a
physical comic.
Comics is truly a medium, not a genre; any and every kind of narrative can be portrayed in
it. What story would you like your comic to tell?
Weekly £15 per session. Or buy 10 weeks for £150.00
