Join us at St Mary’s Church, Kingswood, for a fascinating talk by Professor Mark Horton.
Recent archaeological research at Kingswood, near Wotton under Edge, has revealed new evidence of the possible location and significance of its Cistercian Abbey. This talk will explore these new ideas and place Kingswood Abbey in the context of the Cistercian Order in the West Country during the 12th to the 16th Centuries.
The talk will be given by TV presenter and well-known archologist, television presenter, and writer, Professor Mark Horton, currently Pro Vice Chancellor at The Royal Agricultural University and Emeritus Professor of Archology at Bristol University.
Mark is a passionate advocate for the public understanding of the past – through TV, radio and media. He was closely involved in the early series of Time Team (Channel 4), and presented ‘Time Flyers’ (BBC2, 2002-4), and ‘Coast’ (BBC2 2005-2016). He has also worked with the History, National Geographic and Discovery channels. He is currently appearing on Science Channel’s ‘What on Earth’
