Church Crawl

Join us for a unique summer “Church Crawl” on 12th June, 10:30am to 4:00pm, exploring two beautiful historic churches in the Badminton area, with an optional third, each Grade I listed and offering access to spaces not usually open to the general public.

The day begins at 10:30am with welcome refreshments at St Mary the Virgin, Hawkesbury. This distinctive church, set in a stunning location, will host us for guided tours inside and out, along with the special experience of hearing the bells rung.

From there, we will enjoy a relaxed buffet lunch at the charming Bodkin House Hotel. Set on the site of a former priory, the hotel retains a number of historic features, adding to the atmosphere of the day. We will have use of a private dining room as well as access to a lovely outdoor space, perfect if the weather is kind. Ample parking is available, and drinks can be purchased at the bar.

After lunch, we will continue to Great Badminton Church, also Grade I listed, where we will enjoy a guided tour and the chance to hear the recently restored organ. Parking and stewards will be in place to assist on arrival.

For those who wish to extend the experience, there will be an optional visit to Little Badminton Church, another Grade I listed building, with transport provided by local volunteers.

This promises to be a wonderful opportunity to enjoy local heritage, good company and a leisurely summer outing, with the added privilege of accessing areas of the churches not usually open to the public.

Please note: You will be required to arrange your own transport for this event; parking is provided free of charge at each location.

The churches will be providing refreshments and guides free of charge; however, we would like to encourage you to make a donation directly to the churches on the day.
