Glynde Place is an Elizabethan country house situated in the village of Glynde, East Sussex.

In addition to our normal house public tours, Glynde Place is pleased to offer a series of Invitations to View tours which cover our Collection highlights.  Visitors are invited to take a closer look at some of the key artworks in the house, ranging from 17th century paintings to the current day, 18th century Italian bronze reliefs and specially commissioned woodblock wallpaper.  There will also be an opportunity to view related items held in the Glynde archives, including family photograph albums, an 18th century Inventory of Art and documentation relating to Grand Tours.

Led by knowledgeable and enthusiastic guides, this specialist tour enables us to explore at a leisurely pace the provenance, attributions and family stories connected with some of the key items held in the Glynde collection. 

Tour information

The Invitation to View will take place on the first Tuesday of the month from August to October at 10.30am and will last about 1 1/2 hours ending with Tea, Coffee & cake/snack in the Coach House Tea Room which is included in the price.

The tour will be restricted to 15 people and tickets must be pre-booked and cost £25 per person.  Historic House members also have to pay for this tour and tickets are non-refundable.  Glynde Place reserves the right to cancel the event if less than 10 people are booked on the tour and a full refund will be given. 

Access

Please note that this house is built into the side of a hill so it has multiple levels and steps. The ground floor can be accessed via the garden but there is no access to the first floor other than by stairs. If you have any questions about this, or plan to visit then please contact the office.

Getting Here

If you are coming by car please follow signs for Visitors' Parking as we sometimes have to change the parking location. If you require assistance in getting access to the house, or need to be dropped of nearer the house - then please speak to the Estate Office.
