Sound of the Tropics: Nature Sounds & Himalayan Singing Bowl Sound Journey #87
SOUND OF THE TROPICS:
#87 Yoga Studio, Pembrokeshire
An evening of sound baths meditation and immersive nature recordings from Kerala & SE Asia.

7-8.15PM TROPICAL SOUND JOURNEY
Immersive tropical soundscapes • Himalayan & Brainwave Bowls
8 Spaces Max
Imagine yourself lying beside a babbling tropical river flowing down from a distant waterfall.
The waterfall gradually fades as you journey deeper into the rainforest. Tropical birds call around you. Hornbills pass through the soundscape. Cicadas rise and fall amongst the trees. Somewhere in the distance, you begin to hear the ocean.

These are real field recordings I’ve captured across India, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines, triggered, layered and blended live using an Ableton Push MIDI controller and multi-speaker setup, allowing the sounds of the tropics to move and evolve around the studio using volume and panning (left right back front controllers.
Alongside the natural soundscape will be the deep, resonant tones of a full set of Himalayan singing bowls, some with hypnotic deep pulsing resonant tones, being played alongside the dreamy, ethereal sounds of my specially paired Brainwave Bowls, hand-picked in Nepal.
Played in particular combinations, some of the bowls create subtle monaural beats or audible pulses, adding another layer to the experience and helping create the conditions for the mind to settle into deeper relaxation.
There will also be one of our gongs and a collection of other acoustic and alchemy instruments.
...all woven together live to create a deeply immersive journey.

Within the intimacy of this small, cosy yoga studio, the sounds can completely surround you — rainforest, water, birdsong, gong, bowls, vibration and delicate instrumental textures all becoming part of one evolving soundscape.
The field recordings become another instrument in the journey, blending nature, sound and vibration into an immersive Sounds of the Tropics experience.
