Palden Jenkins- A-ha Class 6. Getting Dead and what happens afterwards

Weds 12th February 2025

We get born and then we get dead. Things happen in between that we call 'life'. But even during life we nightly visit an altered state we call 'sleep', and our experiences there are not too different from what we encounter during and after death.

Seen from the viewpoint of the Other Side, our lives are short, rather like a dream, and what happens during our lives takes on a very different hue and meaning when seen from there. After all, we were just visiting Earth.

For me, this matter of dying started when I had a life-changing near-death experience at age 24. It was food poisoning, and I was unconscious for nine days, awakening with much of my memory permanently lost.

Later, from the 1990s onwards, I found myself working psychically with dying people, helping them over to the other side. Having been there myself, I was able to help them transition over. It was remarkable how different their experiences were.

Since getting cancer five years ago, I've been hovering close to the threshold myself a few times. This has been a true education.

Death doesn't just happen when we stop breathing - it's a process. All of us have a foot in the other world, though we might not be conscious of it. But when you get old, or you have a serious illness, or an accident, you come much closer. People who have had near-death experiences usually come back changed, often driven to fulfil a deeper purpose in life.

So I have a few useful insights for terminal patients and people involved with them - and for anyone likely to die (that means you, one day). That is, if you are inclined to take a deeper approach to dying than our culture usually permits. This is about the experience of dying, what it's like, what we can do inwardly to prepare the way, and what happens afterwards.
