Passing: A writing workshop with Fieldnotes

Join us for 'Passing', a writing workshop exploring identity, displacement and the travelling fragment. This workshop will consider slippages in meaning as generative sites of poetic potential, and a way of engaging with questions of performativity and non-belonging in all its permutations. Taking cues from Evelyn Taocheng Wang’s exhibition, as well as writing by Hilton Als, McKenzie Wark, Tiqqun and Richard Siken among others, we will explore ideas of writing with and against the ‘self’. Through a series of informal exercises and guided reading, participants will be encouraged to experiment with techniques of collective writing, montage and sampling.

As a workshop focussed on process rather than outcomes, all levels of writing experience are welcome. 25 places are available on a sign-up basis. Refreshments and workshop materials will be provided. The session will be led by Elaine ML Tam, Fieldnotes Senior Editor.
