Making Youth Voice Matter: Strengthening and Gathering Authentic Youth Voice

Join us for a new series of sessions designed to help schools take a deeper look at how they approach youth voice. You will explore practical ways to strengthen youth voice across your school community and develop more meaningful, authentic ways of listening to young people.

The series will comprise three one-hour sessions, taking place every fortnight; you will work alongside an academic from Goldsmiths University and a small group of schools. Sessions will take place on

Monday 2nd November: 2 -3pm
Wednesday 18th November: 2 - 3pm
Wednesday 2nd December: 2 - 3pm

Please ensure you can attend all 3 sessions

These Community of Practice sessions provide a space to explore what authentic youth voice is for your setting, and how you can engage with students whose voice isn’t always heard. You will identify an area of youth voice that you would like to develop, explore different approaches and discuss practical advice and ideas.

Between sessions, you'll have time to put ideas into practice in your own school. You'll then return to the group to share your experiences — celebrating what worked, reflecting on what didn't go as expected and working together to think through any challenges or barriers you encountered.

Across the three sessions, you will:

  • Explore what authentic youth voice can look like across a school.
  • Consider how effectively your school currently gathers and responds to young people's views.
  • Identify an area of youth voice that you would like to develop or strengthen.
  • Share experiences, ideas and challenges with other Artsmark schools.
  • Gain practical advice, approaches and tools from an experienced academic
  • Put your ideas into practice between sessions.
  • Reflect on your experiences and learn from what worked — and what didn't.
  • Develop approaches that can be embedded within your school's wider practice.

Each session will build on the last, creating a supportive space where you can learn, try, reflect and adapt.
