 6 Week Creative Media Workshops: Module 1: Fundamentals of Animation with Goldtops Studios (Ages 11–16)

Join our hands-on six-week course designed for homeschooled 11–16 year olds to learn the fundamentals of stop-frame animation. Across six two-hour sessions students will learn how to develop original characters and worlds, explore storytelling and scriptwriting, practice set-building and props, and create short stop-frame films using basic camera and editing techniques. The course balances practical animation skills with creative writing and collaborative problem‑solving in a supportive, small‑group environment.

What to expect:

• Character design & model-making (clay, paper, mixed media)
• World-building, set design & miniature props
• Scriptwriting, storyboarding & pacing for animation
• Stop-frame capture techniques, frame timing & simple editing
• Group feedback, final screening and sharing of completed shorts

Practitioners: All sessions are led by industry‑experienced, fully qualified practitioners who are DBS checked. They also have experience in therapeutic practice and wellbeing, ensuring a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Important: Attendance at all six sessions is strongly recommended to complete the introductory projects and get the full learning experience. Sessions are 2 hours each; all materials provided (participants may bring personal props such as ipads, laptops, if they wish).
