The Good Ancestor Movement invites you to its second convening, building on the momentum of 2022’s landmark conference entitled Wealth Management’s New Imperatives Wealth Summit. We’re bringing together wealth advisors, wealth holders , and movement partners across the ecosystem to radically rethink the role of wealth. 

We are living through an age of polycrisis—where climate breakdown, inequality, extractive economies, democratic erosion, and systemic injustice are accumulating. In this moment, the role of extreme wealth is increasingly under scrutiny—not just for how it is accumulated, but for how it is held, advised, and moved. 

What does it mean to be a trusted advisor when trust in systems is failing? What is the responsibility of wealth holders beyond their futures?

This year, we gather to explore how wealth and its advisory industries must be transformed to meet the realities of this time. We will explore transformative practices, learning from those involved in community infrastructure, neighbourhood transformation and international solidarity. 

Accessibility

There is step free access to the building and to all the rooms we will be using for the conference. There are accessible toilets with baby changing facilities. There are three designated on-street parking spaces for blue badge holders on Endsleigh Gardens. There will be a quiet space for anyone who needs to pray, rest or take some time away from the main conference. If you have specific access needs, or would like to speak to someone in more depth about your access needs, please let us know on the form and we will be in touch. 

There will be breakfast available between 9am-10am, lunch between 1pm-2pm, and refreshment breaks at 11:30am and 3pm. 

Covid Protocol 

Although many organisations have ceased taking precautions around Covid, GAM recognises that Covid is still present in our communities, and still poses a huge risk to many, especially those in our community who are disabled and/or immunocompromised. 

• We strongly encourage you to take a lateral flow test before attending the conference to ensure that you are Covid negative 
• Please do not attend the conference if you have Covid or have any symptoms of Covid
• If you are unable to attend the event due to being unwell or having Covid symptoms, we will give you options to catch up on sessions through recordings.  
• We will aim to keep the conference rooms ventilated and spacious at all times 

Programme 

A detailed programme will be shared with all registered participants in advance. The conference will consist of sessions featuring leading thinkers, activists and academics, alongside smaller roundtable discussions where participants will have a chance to hear from others in the sector and build understanding together. 

Sessions will cover a range of ideas, topics and provocations, including but not limited to: 

• Understanding regenerative economic models in theory and practice 
• Reflecting on how colonial extraction shaped, and continues to shape, wealth accumulation 
• Diving deeper into the risks of extreme wealth and the role of the private wealth industry in mitigating these risks 
• Reckoning with the moment we’re in and the ‘Great Wealth Transfer’ beginning to take place across generations 
• Imagining a world beyond traditional philanthropy 

Confirmed speakers include economist Kate Raworth, Immy Kaur, founder and director at CIVIC SQUARE, Kojo Koram, author of ‘Uncommon Wealth’, reparationist and educator Esther Xosei, and many more.
