Social Change & Movement Building with Deepa Iyer

Tue 14 Oct 2025 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM BST Online, Zoom

The Good Ancestor Movement invites you to an introductory session with Deepa Iyer, creator of The Social Change Map.

“To engage in social change at this moment in time requires consistent attention, deep reflection, and committed collective action.” Deepa Iyer

We are living through an age of polycrisis—where climate breakdown, inequality, extractive economies, democratic erosion, and systemic injustice are accumulating, whilst our governments refuse to acknowledge the root causes of these crises and fail to intervene in racist violence and genocide.

In order to resist, to support each other and protect our communities and planet, we need to build powerful movements across divides. We must recognise our fundamental interdependence, whilst attending to the vast, unjust discrepancies in how we’re impacted by crises, depending on our access to power and resources under the current system.

Building the movements we need requires us to understand our unique roles as individuals, organisations and communities, and how these fit into a wider movement ecology with broad, shared aims.

With this in mind, GAM invites you to an introductory session with Deepa Iyer, creator of The Social Change Map to explore the roles that people and organisations often show up in when participating in social change movements and use this understanding to deepen our collaborations and build solidarity.

This session will be facilitated by GAM and feature Deepa Iyer in conversation with Stephanie Brobbey, Founder and CEO of Good Ancestor Movement.
