Finding Our Hidden Power: Claiming our Agency in the Private Wealth System

Join the Good Ancestor Movement for an interactive session on reclaiming our agency within the private wealth system.
The private wealth system prioritises accumulation above all else, with different parts of the system working in tandem to maintain this status quo. But in the context of the multiple intersecting crises impacting people and the planet, many of us want wealth to move in a way that is supportive of a fairer future. Those of us who are closest to the private wealth system have the most power to change it, but it’s not straightforward within a complex system that can leave us feeling like we have no voice.
We’re gathering people from across the private wealth system for a curious conversation about agency: where it hides, where it shows up and what shifts when we claim it. This session is about noticing the moments where we quietly shape things, the relationships where our influence is stronger than we admit and the choices that ripple out further than we expect.
We’ll hear from peers who have already stepped into their agency and let their stories unsettle the idea that “nothing can change here.” Their experiences will help us see the system from the inside out: where agency gets lost, where it reappears and how it expands when someone chooses to act with intention.
Through discussion and reflective exercises , we’ll explore how agency becomes visible when we pay attention, how our spheres of influence are wider than they look and how individual clarity can spark collective momentum. You’ll leave with a sharper sense of your own agency and one intentional move that nudges the system in the direction you care about.
This session is designed for anyone who interacts with the private wealth system, including wealth holders and advisors. We’re looking forward to coming together across our different positions to learn from each other and create more opportunities for making change together.
