Good Women Dance Collective’s 15th Convergence

October 24th-26th, 2024
La Cite Francophone

Convergence is the Good Women Dance Collective’s annual showcase of ambitious new dance works.

Each evening (7:30pm) performance of Convergence 2024 features two works: A new GWDC creation choreographed by Alison Kause and Alida Kendall and FACE2FACE by Marynia Fekecz-Mangan. See more details about these creations below.

The performance on Saturday at 7:30pm will include Deaf Theatre Interpreter Thurga Kanagasekarampillai with ASL Interpretation from Gail Benin and Shelly Nafshi.

RELAXED PERFORMANCE / FAMILY MATINEE: Join us Saturday October 26 for a special matinee featuring a relaxed performance of GWDC's new work and a special share from our Parent Child Dance Class. (This performance will not feature FACE2FACE). This will also be a relaxed performance, meaning there will be dim audience light during the performance, kits available for any sensory needs, and some adjusted sound/lighting cues.

RODEO BY THE GOOD WOMEN DANCE COLLECTIVE

Rodeo is a spectacle that simmers in simplicity. Tension builds and bursts as bodies are corralled through confined spaces. Time warps, legs fly up and skin meets the floor. Rodeo asks you to watch, closely, and closer still.

Choreographed by Alison Kause and Alida Kendell, performed by Alison Kause, Alida Kendell, Deviani Andrea and Molly McDermott, with Dramaturgy by Lin Snelling and original sound composition by Jordan Pelz.

FACE2FACE BY MARYNIA FEKECZ-MANGAN

“FACE2FACE” aims to use choreographic languages to show the intrinsic interconnectedness between humans. The viewers will follow two dancers and their previously recorded selves as they explore themselves in each other and the shadows of who they were on the screens. The artists intend to bring seamless integration and momentary synchronization between video, live dancers, and music and – at the same time – create an illusion for the audience that oscillates around past and present.
