Botanical Silk Scarf Dyeing Workshop
Botanical Silk Scarf Dyeing Workshop
About the Workshop
Join me for a relaxed and creative workshop exploring the art of botanical dyeing on silk, using only natural materials, such as plants, flowers, and bark.
Over two hours, you’ll design and create your own naturally dyed square silk scarf - perfect to wear as a bandana, style around your neck or bag, or give as a thoughtful, handmade gift.
You’ll be introduced to the ancient craft of natural dyeing, learning how to prepare fabric, which plants and flowers produce the most beautiful colours, and how to achieve a range of patterns and tonal variations. We’ll also cover how to care for your piece and how long natural dyes can last.
If the weather allows, we’ll take a stroll through the lush gardens of Bonnington Square, discovering more about natural dye outdoors while enjoying a herbal tea.
This is a relaxed, friendly workshop, designed for all levels, with no prior experience needed.

About Bonnington Café & Community Centre
Bonnington Café is a much-loved vegetarian café run by a rotating collective of guest chefs, each bringing flavours and dishes from around the world.
Located in Bonnington Square, the café is part of a space with a rich history rooted in community action. Emerging from the squatting movement of the 1970s, local residents came together to form a housing cooperative that continues to thrive today. The lush planting you see today was cultivated by members of the cooperative, transforming a once concrete square into a thriving urban garden.
