Description

S01E06 COMMON GROUND COCKTAIL TASTING MENU
Grau Projekt's signature manoeuvre is a concept titled ‘artist-curated drinking’ where every show is celebrated with cocktails, created to underline the mood and philosophy of the exhibition.

This exhibition features Spanish rising star Keke Vilabelda. Exhibited works are a response to the context and circumstances, as Keke is exploring the physical connection between Valencia and Victoria. The COMMON GROUND installation will include a new series of paintings, digital prints, video works and a floor intervention produced with 8 tons of local salt. This a must-see of the 2019 Australian art calendar.

Matt Bax accompanied Keke to Lake Tyrrell for the shooting of the Australian chapter of his video work Pink Lakes. The experiences and landscape from this trip shaped much of this menu. Many of the native foraged flowers, barks and leaves were also sourced during this trip. The techniques applied here can be attributed to the likes of Spain’s most influential kitchens of el Bulli and Mugaritz that sent shock waves throughout global gastronomy and had a profound influence on Matt Bax’s cocktail style and his bar Der Raum.

Standard tickets ($49 per person)  include a 3 part artisanal cocktail tasting menu created in collaboration with the artist specifically for the exhibition.

VIP tasting tickets ($89 per person) and include all 5 cocktails and a signed artist poster from the exhibition.

Despite the vast space of Grau Projekt, only a limited number of tickets are available. It's a great opportunity to combine two great pastimes, art and drinking.

Keke Vilabelda exclusively in Australia. Keke got his MA St Martins London in 2011 and graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts of San Carlos, Valencia in 2009. He has exhibited his work in Spain, England, Belgium, Poland, Colombia and Mexico. Among his honours is the selection of SAATCHI New Sensations, the BMWs Scholarship for pictorial research, the Prize of the Royal Academy of San Carlos, the INJUVE arts aid of the Government of Spain, residency at Mexico's artist retreat Casa Wabi and a current one-year residency at Casa de Velázquez. This month he was shortlisted for Spain's most prestigious painting prize Premio BMW de Pintura 2019.
