Grow

Grow is our monthly Home Ed session, taking place in the education room, garden and woods at Great Dixter.

Sessions will focus on seasonal activity in the garden and woods and include art, cooking, and science as well as a forest school approach to learning in the woods, with learners developing their own ideas and themes.

Sessions cost £20 for a family with more than one child, £10 for single child families, and include snacks which we make, materials and facilitation by education officer, Catherine.

The plan is to meet in the education room at 10am. We'll make some fruity flatbreads to cook on the fire and head for an autumnal walk around the garden. After your walk we'll have a seasonal propagation session with the new scholars and then head to the woods for some free flow fun. I'll bring some willow along for anyone who wants to have a play making dreamcatchers or willow fish, and there will be the usual hammocks, cargo net and play opportunities.

There will be coffee and tea for adults, and of course flatbreads served with butter.

The session will end at 1:30 so it's probably a good idea to bring a packed lunch.

Please note that the paths in the woods are quite narrow and tricky with buggies: slings are preferred.

Please be aware that Great Dixter is responsible for ensuring that all sites and activities are risk assessed and fit for purpose and you are responsible for direct supervision of your children while attending this session. Please read the health and safety information on our website before attending a session.
