During this one-day beginner's tray decorating workshop, you will learn from tutor Simon Nobs the craft of how to prepare a base and use provided stencils and gold-leaf to decorate a circular tray. This one day workshop is a great introduction to the craft of stencilling, and by the end of the day you will be taking home your own hand-crafted stencilled gold-leaf edged tray.
All materials you use during the day are fully sustainable, and included in the price.

Our Tutor

An experienced Painter, Decorator and Heritage Crafts Instructor, Simnon Nobs started his life journey with his family's bakery and patisserie, which lead him to Switzerland as chef pâtissier at the Walliserhof in Sass Fee and being interviewed by TV AM's Roland Rat as his British ski instructor! On returning to the UK, and inspired by his renovation of a Cornish cottage, he enrolled on a City & Guilds course, and a new career path.
Now, 40 years later Simon specialises in decorative paint techniques—both traditional and contemporary. From his home and base in Folkestone and Hythe he undertakes commissions across Europe, most notably in his second home of Switzerland, as well as in the South of France and Germany.
Simon continues to deliver a high-quality painting, decorating and traditional paint effects service to clients, and with faux marbling and wood graining now listed on the Heritage Crafts Red List of Endangered Crafts, Simon sees it as his responsibility to pass these skills on to others.
