Clinical supervision is more than a licensure requirement — it is a relational, ethical, and professional responsibility that shapes the future of the mental health field.
This two-day, in-person training offers a structured and reflective approach to ethical, competent, and relationship-centered clinical supervision. Designed for seasoned clinicians seeking to provide post-graduate supervision for MFT and LPC candidates in Kansas and Missouri, this training integrates supervision theory, ethics, cultural responsiveness, practical structure, and the person of the supervisor.
Participants will explore developmental, systemic, and postmodern models of supervision while learning to navigate the ethical, legal, and relational complexities of supervision practice. Significant attention is given to culture, context, power dynamics, documentation, evaluation, feedback processes, and the development of a sustainable and grounded supervision identity.
This training is designed to support clinicians in becoming not only board-approved supervisors, but thoughtful, competent, and reflective leaders within the profession.
Topics Include:
• Models and theories of supervision
• Ethical and legal responsibilities of supervisors
• Kansas and Missouri statutes and regulations
• Cultural responsiveness, power, and contextual awareness in supervision
• Structuring supervision agreements and documentation systems
• Feedback, evaluation, and supervisee development
• Developing a personal philosophy of supervision
• The person of the supervisor and reflective supervision practices
• Practical systems and logistics for supervision practice
Participants will also spend time learning to navigate relevant licensure board resources and supervision requirements so they feel more confident supporting supervisees through the licensure process.
Each attendee will receive access to a comprehensive Clinical Supervision Training Manual that includes sample forms, supervision templates, documentation examples, ethical decision-making tools, practical implementation resources, and ongoing updates as regulations evolve.
This training is intentionally designed to balance professionalism with accessibility and connection. We welcome participants to engage in ways that support their learning and regulation, including the use of fidgets, doodling, knitting, or stepping in and out of the room as needed. Our goal is to create a learning environment that honors different nervous systems, attention styles, and ways of engaging. Please also be mindful of others as you consider what is helpful to your learning.
