Community Fossil Day

Travel back in time with the Greenacres Education team during this hands-on fossil-hunting adventure! We'll hike to the creek and explore exposed rock beds in search of 450-million-year-old Ordovician fossils, including bryozoans, brachiopods, and other ancient marine life. Along the way, participants will learn how our modern creek ecosystem is still influenced by the ocean that once covered this land.

This program is designed for adults and school-aged children ages 7 and up and is a great way to engage young explorers in local geology, ecology, and natural history.

Tickets

• $1 per person (adults and children)
• All participants must be registered in advance—space is limited!
• Adult tickets are available and tickets for children (ages 7-17) are only available for purchase with a participating adult

General Information

• No strollers or pets permitted.
• Filled water bottles are permitted.
• All food must remain in your vehicle.
• Wear clothing suitable for outdoor exploration (rain or shine).
• Closed-toed shoes are required; expect them to get wet and muddy.
• Greenacres Foundation is privately operated; all guests on the property must be accompanied by a Greenacres representative at all times.
