Housing Community Summit Liverpool Fringe Event

Mon 8 Sep 2025 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Nova Scotia, L3 1BP

As part of the Housing Community Summit 2025, Green & Burton ASB Associates are hosting an early evening fringe event focused on one of the most pressing and often under-explored areas of community safety: Hate crime.

This session brings together professionals from across housing, policing, mediation, and equalities for a live panel and roundtable. It is a space to reflect on current practice, challenge assumptions, and explore how we can respond more effectively to hate-related incidents.

Why this matters

Our recent audit work with housing providers and local authorities has highlighted a clear rise in hate-related ASB. These cases can often fall through the cracks, leaving victims feeling unsupported and frontline staff without clear routes for action.

We will explore:

  • How consistently hate incidents are prioritised and recorded

  • Whether current policies match what happens in practice

  • What good victim support looks like across different agencies

  • The role of early intervention, education, and enforcement

What to expect

  • A sector-led panel and roundtable chaired by Matt Baird, Founder of The Social Housing Roundtable

  • Insightful, experience-led discussion with room for practical ideas and shared reflection

  • A welcoming atmosphere with drinks, nibbles, and live music to finish the evening

Guest panellists

  • Ben Osu, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Lead, Everton Football Club

  • Tracey Gore, Director, Steve Biko Housing Association

  • Mushtaq Khan, Chief Executive, Housing Diversity Network

  • Charlie Hamilton-Kay, Deputy Chief Executive, ASB Help

  • Louise Murphy, Partner and Head of Housing and Regeneration, MSB Solicitors

  • Kim Logan, Director, ADR Mediation and Training

  • Hate Crime Specialist, Merseyside Police

  • Trina O’Connor, Criminologist, Ireland
