Green Cities Accord Community Impact Event

Join Green Cities Accord and Green Sports Alliance members for a regional sports sustainability meetup and community impact event in the Twin Cities. (Rescheduled from Monday, June 8).

The afternoon will begin with a hands-on volunteer opportunity supporting urban tree canopy and habitat restoration around The Trailhead at Theodore Wirth Park. Volunteers will help remove invasive buckthorn using hand tools as part of an ongoing effort to restore native ecosystems, improve biodiversity, and strengthen climate resilience in one of Minneapolis’s most heavily used urban parks.

Immediately following the volunteer project, guests are invited to a casual happy hour at the Trailhead to meet with peers across the sports and sustainability industry. The gathering will focus on collaboration and knowledge sharing around how sports organizations, venues, and partners can advance credible, community centered climate action.

You’ll hear from Green Cities Accord about its partnerships with the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Wild, and how leading professional sports organizations in our region are helping advance local environmental stewardship and community-based climate impact.

Event details:

• Tuesday, June 30 from 2:00-4:30 PM
• Happy hour starts at 3:30 PM
• Free parking available at The Trailhead

All the tools will be provided, and work gloves available (though feel free to bring your own). Please wear closed-toed shoes and consider long sleeves and pants to avoid scrapes. Bring a water bottle. Public bathrooms and drinking fountains are available on-site.
