Garden Playgroup on Green City Action Allotment
Garden Playgroup on Green City Action Allotment
An outdoor, garden based playgroup on the Green City Action community allotment. Come along and have fun in nature. Kids can get involved with gardening, outdoor play and nature inspired art. Each session is inspired by the natural materials available and the changing seasons. Mostly suitable for families with children up to age 10, though we have had older children there as well.
All children need to be accompanied and supervised by an adult.
Booking tickets are a must, so that we know how much food and nature materials to provide, but on the day you can drop in whenever suits you and your little ones between 10am and 1pm. Equipment, refreshments and snacks provided. Please wear suitable footwear and clothes that can get mucky. Don't be put off by the weather, we have a lovely shelter, blankets and warm drinks! Though sessions will be cancelled if it's colder than 5degrees.
You only need to get one ticket per family and no one turned away for lack of funds.

We will be hosting these sessions roughly once a month - future dates TBC but will always be on a weekend or during a school holiday. We also do take photos so that we can share with funders and on social media. We only take photos of the back of childrens head or use imagery to block out faces. Please do let us know though if you would rather you children not be in any photos
Accessibility
- It's technically step free to get to the site and onto the site, though it is all uneven track which isn't flat. To get into the sheltered area, there are two steps.
- There is the ability to drive onto the site for 1 car, this would need to be pre-arranged. The area for parking the car is still at least a 4 minute walk from the Green City Action Allotment. I'm unsure whether taxis would drive onto site.
- The toilets are communal toilets found in the centre of the allotment site (so not on the Green City Action plot). It's about a 6-8minute walk to get there. Again all uneven track. The toilets are in a shipping container so there is a slight lip to step over to get in and out of the toilet. The toilets are gendered toilets
- If there is any specific information you need about the site that I haven't thought to share please don't hesitate to ask - 07704 182216
- Additionally if there is anything we can do to make the space culturally accessible to you and your family please do get in contact on 07704 182 216. Happy to answer any questions and share any information that you might need.
Safety
- This is a working community allotment, with a variety of hazards that could hurt small children (e.g. uneven ground, eye level branches). Though we have done our best to make it a safe environment for them to enjoy and do site safety checks before every session: they must be supervised by their own caregiver. If you have any questions please do contact Jeana on 07704 182 216.
