Winter Solstice Walk

Mon 21 Dec 2026 8:30 AM - 10:30 AM GMT The Heart of Kirkcaldy, Kirkcaldy Esplanade, KY1 1JS

Bring in the new season with a winter walk and wheel.

Starting at the ‘Heart’ of Kirkcaldy on the Esplanade, we’ll walk along the beach as the sun rises on the shortest day of 2026. If weather permits, we’ll enjoy the sun rising above the Firth of Forth to welcome in the day and celebrate the Winter Solstice.

The walk is a perfect opportunity to enjoy quiet time away from your festive preparations, to reflect on your year and to enjoy the beauty of the beach, the sounds of waves and the seabirds. Next to Seafield Beach, we’ll enjoy a well-earned blether and a hot drink. Participants may return together along the Esplanade to our starting point or continue on the coastal path independently.

It is recommended that participants be able to walk 2-3 miles at a leisurely pace. The route is mostly flat on pavement, path and the beach. The route may be wet, sandy and rocky in places, with some areas of shallow water on the beach. Alternative routes will be possible for those without suitable footwear, wheelchair users and those with mobility needs.

Children must be accompanied by an adult. Please note that dogs are not permitted on this walk.

Contact us if you would like any further information.
