Pelvic Organ Prolapse  Course with Lisa Hastie

Coventry, West Midlands | Sunday 13th June   2027

Pelvic Organ Prolapse is a common but often challenging area of female pelvic health practice.

Women experiencing prolapse can sometimes find it difficult to access clear, high-quality information and appropriate treatment, despite the significant impact symptoms can have on confidence, physical activity and everyday life.

Physiotherapists have an important role to play in the assessment, education and conservative management of pelvic organ prolapse.

This hybrid course is designed for pelvic health physiotherapists who want to develop their knowledge, clinical skills and confidence in assessing and managing women with pelvic organ prolapse.

Hybrid Course Format

All of the core theory will be sent to delegates approximately 3 weeks before the course date, allowing you to complete the learning in your own time before attending.

The pre-course material is equivalent to approximately one full day of theoretical learning.

The face-to-face element will then take place over one full practical day in Coventry, West Midlands.

Completing the theory beforehand allows the live teaching day to focus much more heavily on practical application, clinical reasoning, treatment planning and interactive discussion.

Who Should Attend?

This course is ideal for:

• Women’s and pelvic health physiotherapists who want to develop their prolapse knowledge and clinical skills
• Physiotherapists already treating women with pelvic floor dysfunction who want greater confidence managing prolapse
• Clinicians looking to expand their scope of pelvic health practice
• Physiotherapists returning to pelvic health practice who would benefit from an update
• Clinicians wanting to develop a stronger pelvic organ prolapse caseload

The course is particularly suited to physiotherapists who already have some pelvic health experience and want to further develop their ability to assess, treat and manage more complex female pelvic health presentations.

What Will Be Covered?

Understanding Pelvic Organ Prolapse

The course will explore different prolapse presentations and how they may affect women at different stages of life.

Topics will include:

• Post-natal bladder prolapse
• Bladder prolapse
• Uterine prolapse
• Vaginal vault prolapse
• Bowel dysfunction with a focus on bowel prolapse in the new mum

Assessment & Clinical Reasoning

The course will help develop your clinical reasoning when assessing women presenting with prolapse.

The aim is to move beyond simply identifying that a prolapse is present and develop a clearer understanding of how the condition is affecting the individual woman, her function and her goals.

The Role of Pessaries

Pessaries can form an important part of the conservative management of pelvic organ prolapse.

The course will introduce the role of pessaries and where they may fit within the wider management of women with prolapse.

Surgical Options

Physiotherapists working with women with prolapse need an understanding of the wider treatment pathway.

The course will therefore discuss surgical options for pelvic organ prolapse and the role of physiotherapy alongside wider medical and surgical management.

Prolapse, Sport & Exercise

One of the important themes of the course will be helping women remain active.

Women with prolapse can become concerned that exercise, lifting or sport will make their condition worse.

The course will explore prolapse in relation to sport and exercise, with a particular focus on keeping women active.

Myth Busting in Pelvic Organ Prolapse

There are many misconceptions surrounding prolapse.

Women may be told that they should avoid certain movements, stop lifting, restrict exercise or dramatically change their lifestyle.

The course will explore some of the common myths surrounding pelvic organ prolapse and discuss how clinicians can provide women with clearer, more practical advice.

Developing Your Pelvic Organ Prolapse Caseload

The course will also consider how clinicians can develop pelvic organ prolapse as part of their wider pelvic health practice.

This will include discussion around recognising appropriate patients, developing confidence with these presentations and integrating prolapse management into an existing pelvic health caseload.

A Practical Course Designed to Build Confidence

Developing expertise in pelvic health can be challenging, particularly when clinicians begin seeing more complex presentations.

This course is designed to make pelvic organ prolapse management clinically relevant and practical.

By completing the theoretical material beforehand, the face-to-face teaching can focus on applying that knowledge to clinical scenarios, developing practical skills and discussing treatment and management strategies.

There will be plenty of opportunity throughout the day for questions, clinical discussion and interactive learning.
