Join Greenheart Productions for our first public fundraiser: a professional staged reading of 17 MINUTES by Scott Organ, in the Barn at Westport Country Playhouse.

Donations made through our fiscal sponsor, Fractured Atlas, are tax-deductible and help sustain Greenheart Productions as we grow beyond this inaugural event.

The approximately 80-minute reading will be followed by a moderated panel discussion featuring a multidisciplinary group of speakers, including 17 MINUTES playwright Scott Organ, deepening the conversation this powerful play invites.

Play Synopsis: 17 minutes is the length of time Sheriff’s Deputy Andy Rubens stood outside of a school while a shooter was inside. The play 17 MINUTES explores the communal and residual effects of a shooting through Andy, a man who struggles with his own complicity in the tragedy, and who seeks meaning in the wake of the shooting.

The reading, directed by Andrea Lynn Green, features a celebrated ensemble of professional actors with credits spanning Broadway, Off-Broadway, major regional theatres, and prominent film and television work: Mike Boland, Dawn Vanessa Brown, Brian J. Carter, Susan Jacobson, Susan Vanech, and Allan Zeller.  Stage Directions read by Luisa Tanno. The panel discussion will be moderated by acclaimed radio host, artist, and speaker, Randye Kaye.

The Panelists: Scott Organ (Playwright, 17 MINUTES); Yves Gerald Pierre (Greenwich, CT Police Officer and Use of Force and De-escalation Instructor); Sharon Lauer (Head of Unquowa School); Elizabeth Simmons (Norwalk Educator); and Susan Jacobson, co-founder, Greenheart Productions.

Please Note: There is free parking on site. The WCP Barn is wheelchair accessible.

Recommended for ages 16+ due to mature themes and discussion of gun violence and its aftermath.
