‘Idiosyncratic and adventurous work that manages to convey playfulness and lightness while also sounding profound and beautiful. The lyrics are clever and charming and Bluhm’s baritone adds considerable personality to the record.’ -Americana Highways
Stephen Bluhm
Stephen Bluhm presents the beautiful new orchestral pop album Out of the Nowhere Into the Here. Bluhm will sing and play piano & guitar, and will be joined by Meghan Mercier on cello, Jackson Spargur on violin, Scott Vorwald on clarinet & sax, and Erin Starr on flute.
While his self-titled 2017 debut was acclaimed as a synth-pop tour de force, Bluhm set the electronics aside and more deeply explored the modern and classic chamber pop sounds he’s long adored. Recorded in Hudson and Athens, New York, the album was recorded on Bluhm's piano and with many local orchestral players, including members of Bard's The Orchestra Now. The music is described by Bluhm “ten intimate but playful songs capturing the visceral feelings of autumn and winter, love and passion, and the suspicion (I’m not alone with) that there is something going on beyond our understanding.”
