48 by 4: Hiking New Hampshire’s Highest Peaks with a Toddler
Thu Feb 13, 2025 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM EST
Green Mountain Club, 05677
Description
Four-year-old Lydia Pearson has been hiking since before she could walk, riding along in a carrier with ultrarunner mom Whitney. As soon as she could walk on her own two feet, she started summiting some of New Hampshire's highest peaks. In June 2024, she became the youngest known hiker to complete the NH48, 48 peaks above 4,000 feet. Lydia completed all the summits over 35 hikes in less than a year, with mom carrying her little sister at her side. Lydia's mom Whitney will share stories from their hikes together, how she got her kids to enjoy hiking, and what's next for her trekking family.
Our in-person programming returns this year to the Meeting Hall at GMC Headquarters in Waterbury Center. We look forward to welcoming you back to our club space and invite you to join us for a sneak peek of the nearly complete Rothberg-Birdwhistell Visitor Center before the event. Check out the new building, mingle with other hikers, and enjoy light refreshments.
6:30 p.m. - 7 p.m.: Open House in the new Visitor Center
7 p.m. - 8 p.m.: Speaker Event
