Paved Paradise: Highways, Wildlife Crossings and the Future of our Roaded Planet
Thu Jan 30, 2025 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM EST
Online, Zoom
Description
Some 40 million miles of roadways encircle the earth, yet we tend to regard them only as infrastructure for human convenience. They’re practically invisible to us, but wild animals experience them as migration and mating disruptors and deadly habitat dividers. Today road ecologists are seeking innovative solutions to combat the destruction our human infrastructure causes. Ben Goldfarb, author of the award-winning book Crossings: How Road Ecology Is Shaping the Future of Our Planet, will discuss the ecological harms wrought by transportation and the movement to redress them — and how we can create a better, safer world for all living beings.
