Breaking it down to build it back: A story of rediscovery in the outdoors

Thu Feb 3, 2022 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM EST Online, Zoom

Perry Cohen had a dream of helping queer and trans people find joy in their bodies through hiking, backpacking, skiing, and outdoor adventure. In 2015 Perry turned that dream into reality when he created The Venture Out Project, a nonprofit that seeks to help create a space in the outdoor community for queer, trans, and LGBTQ+ youth and adults create community, develop leadership skills, and gain confidence through the shared experience of outdoor adventure and physical activity. In his presentation, Perry will tell the story of his own personal journey to becoming the outdoorsman he is today, as well as how he created Venture Out and what it has come to mean to many members of the LGBTQ+ community. Open Q&A session.

This presentation is part of the 30th annual James P. Taylor Outdoor Adventure Series — bringing adventures to you through stories, photographs, and videos.
