Beer making day at Railway Gardens
Sun 22 Sep 2024 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Railway Gardens, CF24 2BH
Description
This event is part of the Good Food Cardiff Autumn Festival and has been made possible thanks to support from Food Cardiff.
The hops at Railway Gardens have grown so well this year! So on September 22nd Leo will be sharing his experience of making small-batch beers and helping us to make our first Splott homebrew together. Whether you fancy learning how to make your own beer at home using simple equipment, or just want to be part of this historic Railway Gardens first, please do join us! Here's what the day will include:
- Understand the ingredients and equipment needed for beer making at home
- Learn the basics of beer making, from mashing and boiling to fermenting and bottling, then put it into practice as we brew together
- Understand how to brew safely and troubleshoot common problems
- Explore and taste different types of beer, and learn how to design your own beer recipe
We'll have a break for lunch (when we'll be brainstorming beer names and designing a possible beer label!) - you can bring a packed lunch or pop out, we will confirm closer to the time if on-site cafe Seal and Bear will be open too.
This workshop is open to people 18 and over. Registration is open to Railway Gardens volunteers only until August 25th after which general signups will open. Spaces are very limited so please let us know if you can no longer use your place so we can offer it to someone else.
