Calling all farmers, gardeners, food businesses, and supporting organizations & agencies in South Carolina! This year Growing Local South Carolina is partnering with Clemson Extension's New and Beginning Farmer program to host a two-day “SC Local Food Summit” local farming and food event in Columbia, SC. Hosted at the beautiful grounds and gardens of Senate’s End in Columbia, this collaborative two-day event will engage the core farming & food system organizations in the state. We’ll kick things off with the fast paced Clemson Farmer Resource Rodeo, relax and mingle at the Local Food Mixer, and participate in shaping the state’s local food plan at the Growing Local Gathering. Individuals and organizations from farm to table will have abundant opportunities to learn about and build connections with the wide range of new programs, funding opportunities, and organizations supporting SC’s local food system. Details below. Participants can participate in one or all events. Scholarship opportunities will be available.

Clemson Extensions's South Carolina New and Beginning Farmer program is facilitating lightning-round style presentations, training, and networking for farmers, gardeners, and food system leaders working in South Carolina's local food space. This event is a great opportunity to help individuals and organizations to connect with resources, learn about updates/opportunities, and build relationships. 

Local Food Mixer for all attendees - Thursday, August 17th (5:30-7pm) 
Relax, mingle, and build connections at the beautiful Senate's End location and gardens with food, music, and seed swap.

Growing Local Gathering - Friday, August 18th (9am-4pm)
Growing Local South Carolina is hosting this food system leadership event focused on bringing together a diverse range of individuals, organizations, and sectors working in food production, distribution, distribution, training/TA, and advocacy/policy to set priorities around local food systems. Participants will spend a portion of the meeting racial caucusing as well as developing action items for SCFPC Committees. This event is appropriate for anyone interested in building stronger relationships in local food systems and engaging in shaping the focus of Growing Local South Carolina and the broader SC Food Policy Council committees.
