On June 14, Symphony will embark on a much-anticipated concert tour to Southern Italy and Sicily, with stops in Sorrento, the Amalfi Coast, Rome, Taormina, and Palermo. Joined by 2021 and 2020 Symphony graduates, 95 musicians will travel across Southern Italy with unparalleled performance opportunities at stunning concert venues. Cultural experiences, including visits to Pompeii, the Roman Forum, and the Sistine Chapel, will deepen students’ global perspective. Through these experiences, students will be inspired to new heights as musicians, while developing a broader global perspective and creating lifelong friendships.
Enjoy Symphony’s tour program in this exciting send-off concert! Shostakovich’s exhilarating Symphony No. 5 serves as the centerpiece to the tour and will be performed in its entirety. GTCYS oboists Kalina Lee and Izaiah Cheeran dazzle with Vivaldi’s Concerto for 2 Oboes and Copland’s Buckaroo Holiday, from Rodeo rounds out the program.
