About this event
In the “new ways of working” and “reinventing organizations” movement of the past 10 years, and here at Greaterthan, we bring powerful systemic tools and group processes to evolving organizations with much success. AND we often encounter persistent habits and behavioral patterns that easily undermine these systemic tools — despite new edicts, many of us still hold back our truth, fear failure, seek predictability and control, and struggle with feedback and conflict.
The old ways of power-over live in our bodies from lifetimes & generations of socialization. Through learning new embodied practices and developing somatic skills we can support our clients and teammates to work through persistent old patterns that undermine new ways of working.
The “Embodying Power-With” workshop series invites you into practices and provocations to build more awareness of your “soma” (your whole self including physical body, emotions, thoughts, habitual behaviors, and ways of relating) and to take the next step in embodying more equity, balance, and interdependence.
Here's what we'll get up to....
Learn practical skills to bring equitable collaboration from an idea to something felt in your body
A variety of practices in breakout rooms and full group spaces
Harvesting learnings to bring back to your collaborators
In this 90m workshop, we will explore two core embodied competencies;
Savouring joy. Too often, we rush past achievements - big and small - in service of moving on to the next thing on our to-do list. What becomes possible if we intentionally carve out even small moments of celebration, of savouring pleasure and satisfaction, with others. What impact might this have on our sense of individual and collective purpose and our commitment to the things that matter to us?
Allowing Grief. Feelings such as grief are depicted as “negative” or “big” and a pushed out of work context; to be dealt with in the privacy of our homes (or therapists’ offices) or repressed. What shifts might emerge if we make space for grief and mourning in collectivity; to hold and be held in the discomfort and sadness of endings, of loss, of missed opportunities? What might emerge from that space?
Event Theme: #in-the-body
Who is this for?
Anyone who… wants to “bring their full selves to work” and might be encountering challenges on the path to building equitable teams.
