The Eyes of Spirits

This original piece will be the Canadian Premiere with GTNT.  The author was moved by the history of the horrible history of the “Starlight Tours,” and has transformed that exploration into a powerful and poignant piece reminding us that this has happened, and can happen, in multiple communities in Canada.  Focussed on the family, challenges, relationships, and circumstances, this piece truly challenges our assumptions and the realities that need to be faced.  

Connor Deerfoot wakes up on the middle of a dirt road. Where is he? Why is he there? As Connor begins walking home, he begins to reflect on his life and where he is going. Then the star spirits begin to speak to him. Inspired by many sad and true events, this play explores the ongoing colonial violence towards Indigenous people and the resilience needed to carry onwards.
