Following our sell out run of Pride and Prejudice in 2025 performed to over 1,000 people, Guildburys Theatre Company returns to Merrist Wood with The Crucible - arguably Arthur Miller's most iconic play. As the sun sets over Merrist Wood and the shadows of Salem grow longer, you won’t just be watching a trial, you’ll be dancing in the woods with them. This is no dusty history lesson, but a high-stakes thriller where small lies snowball. A single lie sparks a wildfire of witch paranoia, turning neighbours into enemies and the truth into a death sentence.

Things to know:

The grounds will open for evening performances at 6pm, 90 minutes before curtain up at 7.30pm.  For the matinee, grounds will open at 12.30pm with curtain up at 2.00pm. Pre-show picnics can be enjoyed on the Picnic Lawn in a designated area clearly marked, before taking a seat in the auditorium. Running time of the play is approximately 2h.15m. There will also be a 15 minute interval

• If the performance is cancelled due to extreme weather conditions after the performance has started, ticket refunds will not be offered.
• Ticket holders who are unable to attend, or who choose not to attend an event because of predicted or actual weather are not eligible for a refund if the event goes ahead.

We are delighted to be supporting MANE CHANCE SANCTUARY at this year's show as our chosen charity. Mane Chance is a registered charity and sanctuary for rescued, abused and abandoned horses, offering help to young people who need a little extra support, involving them with working alongside our rescued horses in a therapeutic environment. Mane Chance volunteers will be serving the refreshments in our tea tent - all proceeds will go to support the charity.
