About the Training

This full-day training is designed for professionals who wish to become a Single Point of Contact (SPOC) within their organisation for individuals experiencing multiple or co-occurring needs.

People affected by domestic abuse often face additional challenges such as poor mental health, substance use, homelessness, offending behaviour, financial hardship, and other complex circumstances. These overlapping needs can increase vulnerability, create barriers to support, and require a coordinated response from services.

This training will equip participants with the knowledge and confidence to act as a SPOC, supporting colleagues to adopt a trauma-informed, person-centred and "No Wrong Door" approach. Participants will explore how multiple and co-occurring needs impact risk, engagement, and outcomes, and learn how to navigate specialist services to ensure individuals receive the right support at the right time.

Completion of this training is required to join the Regional Multiple and Co-Occurring Needs SPOC Network. Members of the network will act as local champions within their organisations, promoting good practice, improving referral pathways, strengthening cross-sector collaboration, and sharing learning across Gwent.

Learning Outcomes:

1.    Participants will understand how multiple and co-occurring needs can compound the risk of harm and affect a person's ability to engage with support.

2.    Participants will be able to apply a trauma-informed lens to practice and make appropriate, coordinated referrals that address both risk and need.

3.    Participants will feel more confident in working collaboratively across sectors to develop flexible, person-centred safety and support plans.

Must be working within Gwent; Caerphilly, Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly Monmouthshire, Newport, Torfaen

• Those looking to increase their knowledge in the subject area
• In a role where the client group is likely to have experienced a form of VAWDASV
• Social Care Workers / Local Authority Staff / Health / Domestic Abuse Specialists / Police / Probation / Fire and Rescue Services / Other related Specialists
