This essential foundation course explores violence against women, domestic abuse, and sexual violence (VAWDASV), with a focus on coercive control and risk assessment. Learn how to identify and assess risk using the DASH RIC tool, understand how abuse presents across different populations, and develop confidence in applying a holistic, context-aware approach to safeguarding. Ideal for professionals seeking to strengthen their knowledge and practice in domestic abuse risk management.
Full day course for multi-agency staff and volunteers across Gwent, who may encounter victims/survivors of VAWDASV.
Learning Outcomes:
- Participants will demonstrate the ability to use the DASH RIC tool effectively to assess and score risk in domestic abuse cases.
- Participants will build confidence in completing the DASH RIC with individuals, through guided practice and application, enabling them to carry out accurate and defensible risk assessments.
- Participants will understand the importance of a holistic, context-aware approach to risk assessment and be able to adapt their practice for different client groups.
- Participants will be able to apply learning in real-world scenarios to make informed decisions about safety planning, referrals, and risk management strategies

Must be working within Gwent; Caerphilly, Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly Monmouthshire, Newport, Torfaen

- In a role where the client group is likely to have experienced a form of VAWDASV
