Habatat is excited to present Adjacent Futures, the first major in-person exhibition at Habatat dedicated to the work of Seattle-based artist Weston Lambert.

Lambert may be a new name to the Habatat exhibition calendar, but his work has already made a remarkable impression on our collectors. Over the past several years, we have placed numerous large-scale works into collections, and during Glass54, his available works sold out during the VIP weekend.

Now, for the first time, we are bringing together a major body of Lambert’s newest work for an exhibition of his own.

Adjacent Futures, opening Saturday, November 7, explores Lambert’s extraordinary ability to bring together materials that seem almost fundamentally opposed. Glass and stone, transparency and opacity, human intervention and geological time come together within a single sculptural form.

At the center of Lambert’s practice are objects he calls Vitroliths.

Rather than treating gemstones, minerals, and stone as decorative additions, Lambert physically integrates them with kiln-cast and laminated glass to create remarkably unified sculptural forms. Bumblebee jasper, lapis lazuli, quartz, malachite, agate, and other geological materials intersect with glass in objects that appear at once ancient and futuristic, as though they were discovered rather than made.

The result is a body of work that challenges where one material ends and another begins.
