We will hear from Taylan Sahbaz from Day-Mer, Turkish and Kurdish Community Centre who will give an introduction to Hackney's Kurdish, Turkish, and Turkish Cypriot Communities. This session will give an insight into the community and a chance to learn about the different groups that make up a significant community in Hackney. Day-Mer was established in 1989 and has worked with Turkish, Kurdish, Cypriot Turkish and European Turkish communities in Hackney to support integration. Day-Mer provides advice, health, education and cultural support services and works to help those experiencing poverty and economic disadvantage, socially excluded young people, women, older people and recent migrants receiving little or no support. Taylan will be open to questions at the end of his presentation.
