The Pickwick Bicycle Club, founded in Hackney in 1870, is the world’s oldest cycling association. The ride will start outside its original base, on the northeast corner of Hackney Downs opposite 75 Downs Rd , before traversing the borough, with stops at Clapton Pond, Sutton House, St Augustine’s Tower, the Rio Cinema and other historic landmarks. Led by Anna Aslanyan, on behalf of Hackney Cycling Campaign, the tour will explore the eventful past of these places, look at their dynamic present and try to imagine their future. The route – a combination of cycle paths and local roads – is suitable for competent cyclists aged 12 and over. You need to bring a bike. The ride will end at Dalston Eastern Curve Garden, 13 Dalston Lane, E8 3DF.
