Hackney Marshes & River Lea Mobile Photography Walk with Ceci n'est pas Hackney and Freya Nayade

This smartphone-only photography walk invites participants to slow down and immerse themselves in the landscape, discovering the city's unassuming beauty. Through observation and conversation, we will turn everyday technology into a creative and convivial tool, engaging with the borough beyond stereotypical frames.

Ceci n’est pas Media is a not-for-profit youth photography initiative working with young people aged 15–25 across Hackney. They've been walking together since May 2024, and in November 2025 the collective presented an exhibition at FILET Gallery. The V&A Library recently acquired their publications for its permanent collection.

Photographs taken during the walk will be published in a dedicated zine, creating a collective record of the Marshes as seen through participants' eyes.
