Script Workshop + Table Read of New Play

Come along to this double header event!!

Start with the Scriptwriting Workshop run by Anne Odeke. 

Are you currently writing a play but feel stuck? This creative writing workshop will help you get through that writers block. We'll also discuss ideas for how best to get your play in front of an audience and learn how to approach theatres.  And Anne will share some top tips from an actors perspective and explain what clues actors need from your text.

Anne's credits include Shakespeare's Globe, The RSC, Birmingham Rep, Storyhouse, The Watermill and many others. As a playwright, Anne's latest play, 'Princess Essex' was performed on the main stage of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre.

Then enjoy listening to a table read of a new play "For the Children" by Ellie Hyde. 

"For the Children" is a comedy told as a series of interleaving monologues charting the rise and fall of the PTA over the course of one school year. 

This new play will be read aloud by professional actors, who sit on stage; the stage directions are read out and there are no props, sets or costumes. It's a chance for the writer to hear the play out loud and receive feedback from the actors and you the audience!

The opportunity for a script to be performed is incredibly valuable to a writer. The medium of theatre is in its performance! Scripts are meant to be performed and so it’s only when heard out loud and hear feedback from others, that a writer can really gauge what is working and where improvements are needed.
