2026 is the 960th anniversay of the Battle of Hastings and the Bayeux Tapestry is being exhibited in London for the first time ever. The picture above - based on panel 45 - shows the how the construction of a castle at Hallaton might have been reported. Visit Hallaton Museum and go on a guided walk of Hallaton Castle. The theme of this year's FoA is "Archaeology and Nature" and you can also learn about some of the interesting flora on the castle site.
You can also pre-book a Ploughman's Lunch or Cream Tea in the 'Cafe in the Church' to have either between 12pm and 2pm or between 2pm and 4pm (before or after your walk). Both the Ploughman's and the Cream Tea are Vegetarian and additionally a Gluten-free Ploughman's is available. Please select your choice when you buy your tickets. There will be other cakes and snacks available in the Cafe but pre-booking is recommended to avoid disappointment.
This walk is over rough agricultural land. Please wear stout footwear and absolutely no dogs.
