A Basque Feast

Food by Ben Harrison · Hosted by Elly Owen · At Halwyn

On Saturday 17 October, Ben Harrison and Elly Owen are coming together at Halwyn for A Basque Feast.

One night of Basque-inspired food, wine, sherry and cooking over fire.

THREE PEOPLE, PLACES & IDEAS COMING TOGETHER

Ben will be on the food, drawing on the cooking and culture of the Basque Country and the time he’s spent in San Sebastián. Halwyn’s Josper gives him the chance to take that influence somewhere we can’t quite take it at Counter Culture, cooking over fire, on a bigger scale, for a proper feast.

Elly Owen will host the evening, choosing wines and sherries to move alongside Ben’s menu throughout. Elly is an award-winning Cornwall-based sommelier and wine educator, named Imbibe Sommelier of the Year in 2020, with an approach to wine that is knowledgeable, relaxed and refreshingly unstuffy.

And Halwyn brings the setting. Long tables, the Josper and the space to bring everyone together for one big communal dinner.

THE FEAST

We’ll start from 6.30pm with pintxos and a welcome drink, before everyone takes their seats at 7pm.

From there, Ben will serve 8–10 plates, moving through generous sharing dishes and brilliant produce, with Elly hosting the table and wine and sherry pairings poured throughout the evening.

This isn't a traditional restaurant sitting. Plates will arrive in stages, food will be passed around the table, glasses will be filled and the whole thing has been designed to be eaten together.

The evening will finish with a mellow beat DJ set from Norb Townsend.

NEED TO KNOWS

A Basque Feast is a set, shared dining experience and the menu has been designed to be enjoyed as a whole. Because of the nature of the evening, we're unable to offer alternative dishes or menu substitutions for dietary requirements.

If you have an allergy or dietary requirement and would like to understand what this means for you before booking, please get in touch with Halwyn and the team will be happy to advise (hello@halwyn.co.uk).
